Feb 27, 2009 to Mar 29, 2009During the month of March, the ABC Treehouse will showcase our in-house collection of prints by StoryPeople/Brian Andreas, along with a selection of StoryPeople books, greeting cards, and wooden sculptures.Opening reception: March 1st, 4PM – 6PM Public viewing hours, this exhibit only: Fridays 1pm-6pm and other times by appointment (065 232 0757) June 6th to July 27th, 2008:The StoryPeople family is showcasing a full exhibition of artist Brian Andreas' work at the ABC Treehouse during the months of June and July.Brian Andreas is an American painter, writer and sculptor with a quirky and unique style that captures the wonder, mystery and humor of everyday life. He is most famous for his StoryPeople objects made out of salvaged wood. Shaped as people, these wooden sculptures are painted in bright and warm colors, always including a short story based on a memory, a moment or an observation. The stories can be sweet, biting or anything in between - but always warm, thought-provoking and wonderfully human. This is one of the reasons why they are now translated into ten languages and touch the hearts of collectors all over the world. “My grandmother used to tell us that once upon a time everything in the world had a voice, and every place you walked you could hear whispers if you listened close enough. I believe the world still whispers. But we have forgotten how to listen”, he wrote in 1994. The same year increasing demand for his sculptures led to the establishment of StoryPeople, a company dedicated to spreading his stories and illustrations on prints, cards, furniture and a series of books. “I like art that admits to being a part of life”, Brian says. It might be the only thing that needs to be said about his work. Discover a major American artist with a vision all his own. Our wish is that other people experience this amazing world we live in as a world of imagination & possibility & healing.We believe our stories do that. (& that's not just StoryPeople stories, but all our stories...) We believe (fiercely) in the power of stories, not because they're our stories, but because it is valuable & right to protect the precious connections between people. That's who we are. We forget at times (isn't it amazing how life sneaks up & steals your memory of who you want to be?), but mainly, we remember.
