Celebrate Art at the ABC TreehouseFeb 14, 2010Details: time: 16:00 to 18:00 host: Donna DuCarme email: treehouse@abc.nl With the festive opening of our first exhibition of 2010 - a solo exhibit celebrating the work of Harald Seiwert - the ABC Treehouse also marks over 10 years of service to the Dutch and international communities in the Netherlands. Join with us on Valentine's Day, when we take time out to thank our supporters and celebrate our love for art, music, lively discussions - and all things bookish! ![]() Artist Harald Seiwert has been working digitally since the first days of "Bryce" (3D software) in 1995, challenging the then-held conceit that ‘computer art’ wasn’t art at all. Through his work, and the work of other artists like him, the keyboard and mouse are now accepted as legitimate tools alongside the traditional brush or pen. In this retrospective, we are offered a tour through this multi-sided artist’s personal favorites, representing the broad spectrum of his work. The artist will be in residence, and available for interviews, during the exhibition. A primary mission of the ABC Treehouse is to strengthen the bonds of community between the international and Dutch citizens who live and work in the Netherlands. We present projects which nurture dialogue and cooperation within this community, and support the writers, artists and 'thinkers' this multiculturele samenleving attracts from around the world. Maintaining strong ties to, and critical support from, the American Book Center (www.abc.nl), the Treehouse offers a rich selection of art, music, workshops... and fun & funky cultural events like launch parties for the hottest new books and our annual Thanksgiving dinner. |
