Thanksgiving Celebrations with ABC

Nov 24, 2009

Thanksgiving has become the holiday all Americans can share, regardless of religious beliefs, cultural background, or original country of origin. Its message of family and friendship, thankfulness and celebration crosses all borders. At the American Book Center, 2008 will be the 19th year we’ve celebrated the holiday with our family, friends and customers. Turkey, trimmings, music, books, and lots of laughter - now that’s a holiday everyone can enjoy!

SUPPORTED POTLUCK DINNER

This year is a very special one for Americans living in the Netherlands : we’re celebrating the 400th anniversary of Henry Hudson’s ‘Discovery’ of Manhatten, which started a relationship that has persevered through revolutions, world wars, and social upheavals on both sides of the Atlantic – a relationship that has allowed the citizens of both nations to enjoy 400 years of friendship, trade, shared values… and food!

To celebrate this notable anniversary, we’ll be adding a few extra dishes to our Thanksgiving menu. Yes, you’ll still be able to enjoy the traditional favorites: turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, dressing, sweet potatoes and corn. But there’ll be a few delicious surprises too, pulled from traditional Dutch recipes. Come to this homey annual feast, and we'll have a wonderful international menu to share in the true spirit of Thanksgiving!

We'll provide the basics: turkey, vegetarian main dish, mashed potatoes, gravy, dressing, sweet potatoes and corn; you’ll bring a starter or dessert to share. The cost is €20 (€5 for children under 10) including coffee and tea; soft drinks, wine and beer will be available for purchase.

Dinner is from 6-8 pm. Everyone is welcome but please do make reservations so we know how much food to prepare. Reserve your space on time, as we can only accommodate a limited amount of people.
